Finca El Hato is a Fourth Generation Family owned farm run by Christian Rasch.
El Hato is located in the town of Barberena, in the Fraijanes region, Santa Rosa, Guatemala.
in the 2012/13 crop year El Hato, along with many other coffee farms, was hit hard by La Roya (Coffee Leaf Rust), loosing over 60% of its crop. Since then they have planted over 200,000 new trees, choosing Roya-resistant varieties. They have also introduced new practices for making sure the trees get the nutrients they need, Using Lobricompost (Organic Food) from the by-products of coffee processing.

Finca El Hato have also rebuilt an abandoned school on the property next to the farm which, for the last ten years, has provided education to children from 5-18 years old. It now has facilities for over 400 pupils, mainly children of coffee workers but also other children living in the area.
